Sage Gateshead Charity Concert

The 2009 Sage Gateshead Fund-Raising Concert in support of Macmillan Cancer Support & Tynedale Community Hospice raised over £13,000.

Tricia Arnold and George F White were delighted and proud to be handing over two substantial cheques to Macmillan Cancer Support and Tynedale Community Hospice on 27th November 2009.

The Charity Concert at The Sage Gateshead at the end of September and subsequent donations raised a wonderful total of £13,456, so each Charity will receive £6,728.

These cheques represent the culmination of some eighteen months hard work on Tricia’s part, approaching the artists and sponsors and organising the event with the help of The Sage Gateshead. Tricia has also taken every opportunity to publicise and market the concert, standing up in front of audiences at the Tynedale Business Awards Dinner, at concerts organised by Hexham and District Music Society, Samling, Hexham Orpheus Choir, Corbridge Chamber Music Festival and several thousand guests at Tynedale Beer Festival!

However, Tricia felt all her efforts were worthwhile when she listened to Rita Cullis, John Hudson, Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid, accompanied by Derek Harris, in hall one at The Sage Gateshead and heard the rapturous applause of the audience on the night. This evening was arranged by Tricia to thank Macmillan Cancer Support and Tynedale Community Hospice for their care of and attention to her mother, Paddy Richards, who died of cancer last year.  Paddy had loved opera and Tricia could think of no more fitting tribute to her.
