Hexham Abbey Project Appeal - Fundraising Concert

A fantastic concert to raise money for the Hexham Abbey Project Appeal will be held in the Abbey on the evening of Saturday 17th March 2012.

Confirmed so far are Graeme Danby (bass) who will act as compere, Rita Cullis (soprano), Rachel Dyson (soprano), Valerie Reid (mezzo soprano), Robert Murray (tenor) and Martin Dack (piano).

This promises to be a wonderful evening of "Music for a Spring Evening".

Graeme is known the world over for his wonderful voice and repartee and will lend his magical vocal chords, with the stellar accompaniment of Rita, Rachel, Valerie and Robert, to the centuries of voices who have infused the very stones of the Abbey and they will be accompanied on piano by the wonderful Martin Dack.

So far, as an initial indication of the content of the programme there will be pieces from:

The Marriage of FigaroMozart
The Sound of MusicRodgers and Hammerstein
CarmenBizet
The Phantom of the OperaLloyd-Webber
Samson and DelilahSaint-Saëns

and there will also be songs by Quilter, Flanders and Swann, Boswell and Ireland.

The discounted "Early Bird" Tickets scheme has now ended but, from 7th January, tickets should be available from the Queen's Hall Box Office on Beaumont Street in Hexham. Those of you who reserved "Early Bird" Tickets from us should be receiving them shortly.

There have been articles about this concert in the Journal (BUT Please Note that the Journal article incorrectly gives the date as being the 7th March) and the Hexham Courant and you can also view a poster for the event here.
