Jill is dual-qualified, being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales ("ICAEW") and also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation ("CIOT") and is a senior member of our tax team.
She trained with Ernst & Young, rising to the position of partner, and during this period was responsible for the tax planning and compliance of family companies, including sales and exit strategies, and UK subsidiaries of foreign multi-nationals. She also advised a number of universities and higher education colleges on protecting their charitable status while establishing commercial trading operations.
Since Ernst & Young, Jill has tutored at Northumbria University's Business School and worked for a Newcastle law practice, where she extended her experience in trust work, inheritance tax and will planning.
In addition to her work within the practice, Jill works one day a week as the manager of a charitable trust, for the benefit of Newcastle University, which has approximately £58m under investment. Jill is an active member and former Chair of the North of England branch of the CIOT. She is also Honorary Treasurer of her local Methodist Church.
When not otherwise occupied(!), she has a keen interest in travelling, hiking, ceroc dancing, theatre and cinema.
