As one of her Christmas presents to staff this year, Tricia has personally given each member of staff a share in an Oxfam farmyard. This is part of the ‘Making a Living’ category from Oxfam Unwrapped, helping to end poverty and change people’s lives across the world. It provides an opportunity for people to generate a sustainable income, put food on the table and learn to cope with the impacts of climate change.
If you would like to make an additional donation, such as an 'Oxfam goat', please just follow the steps on this link: https://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/oxfam-unwrapped
We are delighted to be sponsoring the U18 and U15 Northumberland County Girls Rugby for the current season. As part of the sponsorship, the two County girls rugby teams have been presented with embroidered County polo shirts and this sponsorship will continue for the whole of the 2017-18 season.
Patricia said, “It has always been my mission to support girls and young women in fulfilling their potential, in whatever course they decide to follow, be it on the sports field or in terms of a career. I maintain that progression in life involves teamwork – the spirit and support generated by being a part of something with a common purpose. These girls are creating their own ‘team spirit’ for the future, something which will stand them in good stead. It will be a pleasure to watch them progress.”
Continuing our support this year of Calvert Trust Kielder we were thrilled to be Silver Sponsors of The Calvert Ball held at Newcastle/Gateshead Hilton Hotel on Friday 13th October. Guests were treated to a fabulous evening of fundraising games and both silent and open auctions as well as a delicious dinner and live music. Tricia was delighted to be able to present Peter Cockerill who runs the charity with a cheque for £5572, the total raised by our team for walking around Kielder reservoir in September.
On 8th September we again sponsored the Rotary Golf day at Prudhoe Golf course in Aid of the Great North Air Ambulance and once again they managed to raise an impressive £3500.
Tricia thoroughly enjoyed presenting the prizes to the winners.
A team of staff, family and friends completed a monumental challenge on Saturday 2nd September when 15 out of the 19 who started completed the full 25.3 miles around Kielder reservoir, the other 4 still achieved some serious distance making the total walked 428.5 miles.
The weather was kind and although the midges were still about it was near perfect conditions for walking. Real team spirit shone through when several people walked back to cheer on one team member the last mile. Once everyone had finished there was a rush to get back to the hydro pool at Calvert Kielder where a hearty supper was waiting and a few well-earned glasses were raised to celebrate.
A great time was had by all those at this year’s Tynedale Beer & Cider Festival.
We have been major sponsors of the event for many years and it only seems to get better and better!
Sponsors night was buzzing this year and the sun shone for all of Friday and Saturday.
Pictures shown are Tricia with her specially brewed beer “Liquidity”, some of our guests on sponsors’ night, and staff with dress guards from the Queen’s Own Yeomanry.
The event raised money for the Calvert Trust, Marie Curie and Corbridge & Hexham Youth Initiatives.
We were very proud to be Silver Sponsors at the 5th Belsay Horse Trials on June 3rd and 4th. The sun shone all weekend and the event was a huge success.
We were able to entertain clients to a delicious lunch and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere watching riders compete in show jumping, dressage and over the exciting cross country fences one of which, (The Patricia J Arnold Stick Pile), was sponsored by us.
Hopefully it wasn’t too taxing!
We were delighted to be a sponsor at the Haydon Point to Point on Sunday 21st May.
The day was brilliantly organised by the committee in the spectacular setting of Hexham racecourse.
Lunch was truly delicious and the Patricia J Arnold & Co Ltd representatives enjoyed the company of others on their table from The Laundry Gallery, Cranston’s Butchers and J G Paxton & Sons.
Sadly we didn’t back any winners but thoroughly enjoyed trying!
Following the success of last year’s event celebrating International Women’s Day, Tricia once again hosted a table at the Community Foundation’s Women in Philanthropy lunch.
Her guests enjoyed a welcome reception and two course lunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle and guest speaker Irene Dorner, former president and CEO of HSBC USA, gave a very inspirational and thought provoking speech.
The fantastic sum of £14,500 was raised to be shared between the Northern Learning Trust, a charity which provides family learning to parents to enable them to support their children’s development, and The Community Foundations Women’s Fund.
Over the course of 2016 we were busy supporting many local events, causes and charities some large and some much smaller.
